Life at LDM | Attorney Spotlight, Regan M. Sankey

What is your definition of success?

There are a couple of ways I personally define success. As a young attorney, I feel successful when I am able to learn and grow from an experience or challenge and then apply that new knowledge to the very next day or next matter. In school, I had a coach who always said that growth never happens inside your comfort zone, and I have found that to be true. Any opportunity to expand or push beyond my comfort zone is a success. Another way I define success is helping someone else achieve a goal or resolve an issue. Whether that be a friend, coworker, or client, if I can help make another person’s situation easier or help them reach a better outcome, that feels like a win.

What's the most unique part about working at LDM?

One of the most unique aspects of working at LDM is the early, hands-on learning opportunities and the breadth of work we are exposed to. Since starting my career at LDM, I have had the chance to work with attorneys across all practice groups, which has allowed me to engage in a wide variety of matters that challenge me on a daily basis. At LDM, we are given great responsibility in our practice but it is paired with meaningful and accessible mentorship.

What’s one thing — either industry-related or not — you learned in the last month?

One thing I have learned this month is how to bake a brown sugar cinnamon sourdough loaf without any brown sugar leakage! Sourdough has become my 2026 hobby, and I have been experimenting with different flavors and mix-ins.

What’s the best advice you can give to someone who is just starting their career?

One piece of advice I would give to someone starting their career, although cliché but practical, is to be a sponge and absorb as much as possible. There are learning opportunities in every moment, and as a young professional I have found it helpful to stay observant of those around me. It is a great opportunity to not only gain more knowledge, but also to pick-up different approaches from others. Over time, even small takeaways begin to shape your skill-set and overall practice.

What are you currently reading, binge-watching or listing to?

I am currently watching “Be My Guest with Ina Garten” and season three of Summer House. I am also always listening to Taylor Swift, specifically the Tortured Poets Department or Evermore.
