Life at LDM | Attorney Spotlight, Andrew R. Wilkinson
Andrew R. Wilkinson, Partner
What is your definition of success?
Our profession is a service industry. Success, to me, means making a positive impact on our clients. It’s about achieving results with a high degree of integrity, earning trust through accountability and responsiveness, and continuously staying ahead of growing trends in our industry.
What's the most unique part about working at LDM?
The culture. LDM has a true team-oriented environment where collaboration is encouraged, and everyone contributes to our clients’ success. LDM has achieved a balance of professionalism with genuine camaraderie. This is a place where people care about both the quality of their work and the people they work with, and that is not something that I take for granted.
What’s one thing — either industry-related or not — you learned in the last month?
I’ve learned that when a three-year-old brings home an illness from daycare there is nowhere for the rest of the house to run. Although that is more reinforced knowledge versus a new experience. I continue to learn that I work with good people who truly care about each other and about the clients we represent.
What’s the best advice you can give to someone who is just starting their career?
There is more to this answer than is possible to include here, so please come talk to either me or your mentors. Be curious and accountable. Ask questions, seek feedback, and don’t be afraid to put the work into stepping outside of your comfort zone for a new type of case or a new experience.
What are you currently reading, binge-watching or listing to?
I’m currently reading From Strength to Strength by Arthur Brooks. It’s a thoughtful book about finding purpose and redefining success as your career and life evolves. It has reminded me how important it is to focus on mentoring and relationships, not just personal achievement. Since it is officially fall, I am binge watching the Chicago Bears, Chicago Bulls, Iowa Hawkeyes, and Liverpool FC. I am listening to podcasts questioning why each of those teams is not performing better.
