Brian Brislen and Callie Kanthack Secure $3,636,781.73 Verdict for Client
Lamson Dugan & Murray LLP attorneys Brian Brislen and Callie Kanthack recently tried and won a plaintiff’s personal injury case in Douglas County District Court, securing a jury verdict that awarded their client $3,636,781.73.
The case, Rocha v. Costco, involved claims arising from permanent injuries suffered by LDM’s client as a result of Costco’s negligence. After trial, the jury returned a verdict in favor of the client and awarded the exact amount requested by the trial team.
Mr. Brislen led the trial strategy, lay witness examinations, and presentation and delivery of the closing argument. Ms. Kanthack handled all expert medical witness examinations, including treating medical providers and the defendant’s proffered expert witness. The result reflected the team’s preparation, trial strategy, and ability to communicate their client’s compelling case to the jury.
The outcome also reflects a principle long valued at LDM: strong trial lawyers bring preparation, judgment, and advocacy to significant cases across practice areas. Mr. Brislen’s primary practice includes business and commercial litigation and counseling, while Ms. Kanthack primarily defends medical care providers against allegations of negligence. The week before participating in this result, Ms. Kanthack worked with LDM Partner Patrick Vipond to secure a defense verdict for their client.
As always, the trial team was supported by members of LDM’s litigation staff, whose work helped prepare the case for trial and contributed to the successful outcome.
