Mr. Schmitt is a partner of Lamson, Dugan and Murray and a member of the Firm’s Litigation Department. He graduated from the University of Iowa in 1985 with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree. He received his law degree cum laude from Creighton University School of Law in 1989. While at Creighton University, Mr. Schmitt was an Assistant Editor of the Creighton Law Review and authored Comment, “The Constitutional Ramifications of a Universal, Mandatory Testing Program for the Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome,” 21 Creighton L. Rev. 859 (1988).

After receiving his law degree, Mr. Schmitt was a federal judicial clerk from 1989 to 1991 for the Honorable Lyle E. Strom, Chief Judge, United States District Court for the District of Nebraska. Mr. Schmitt has also been a member of the Adjunct Faculty at Creighton University School of Law from 1990 to 1993 instructing students in legal research and writing, and from 2000 to 2001 teaching Trial Practice. He is a member of the following bars and courts: Nebraska State Bar Association, Iowa State Bar Association, the United States District Court for the District of Nebraska, the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit and the United States Supreme Court. He also holds memberships in the Omaha Bar Association, Nebraska State Bar Association, Iowa State Bar Association, American Bar Association, the Defense Research and Trial Lawyers Association, Defense Counsel Association of Nebraska, and National Association of Railroad Trial Counsel.
